Description

The Deauville L'Original Medium Model beach bag is the compact version of Marinette Saint-Tropez's ode to marine beauty. Against a pure white background, a strikingly elegant naturalistic composition unfolds a marine cabinet of curiosities: large ribbed scallops, spiral conches, tapered cones, pearlescent whelks, textured starfish with five dotted branches, delicate garlands of small shells strung together, leafy algae and coral branches — a fascinating marine herbarium, printed with quasi-scientific precision and remarkable artistic flair, in the ideal size for light outings. It evokes 19th-century naturalist plates, shell collections brought back from the shores, and treasures left by the tide on the sand.

Crafted from 100% heavy canvas cotton, this bag offers a dense and resistant fabric. The all-over illustration covers the entire front and back, creating a luxuriant marine botanical plate effect. Each shell is drawn with remarkable attention to detail — the ridges of the scallops, the spirals of the conches, the geometric patterns of the checkered cones, the grainy texture of the starfish — in a subtle watercolor rendering that blends the dominant color with touches of beige, sand, taupe, and off-white. The white background allows the composition to breathe, giving each marine element space to unfold and stand out clearly.

At the bottom right of the front, the inscription "Saint-Tropez" is printed in elegant cursive lettering in the dominant color — a discreet and refined signature that anchors this marine cabinet of curiosities in the mythical geography of the Riviera. No embroidery, no tufting — just fluid typography, printed with the same finesse as the shells, harmoniously integrated into the composition like an artist's signature at the bottom of their work.

The edges of the bag are highlighted with frayed ecru white fringes — untwisted, natural, light canvas threads — creating a textured, bohemian outline, like sea foam bordering the marine composition. The fringes are short, regular, delicate — they add an artisanal touch without being heavy, a natural frame that enhances the seaside spirit.

Two short, round handles, covered in canvas in the dominant color, are attached by reinforced matching tabs — a sharp and graphic contrast with the printed white background. The handles add a vibrant splash of color that energizes the bag and creates a focal point that dialogues with the printed patterns. The top zip closure secures all contents. Inside, a zipped pocket and an open pocket organize phone, keys, and small essentials.

Two colors, two shores:

— Navy: the entire marine composition is in a gradient of blues — navy blue, royal blue, sky blue, cobalt blue, gray-blue — enhanced with touches of beige, taupe, and pearlescent white. Handles and tabs in deep navy. "Saint-Tropez" lettering in navy. The spirit of a shell collection found on a Breton beach on a misty morning, or Delft blue and white porcelain reinterpreted as a marine motif. Classic, timeless, elegant. The sea in its blue majesty.

— Coral: the entire marine composition is in a gradient of coral and orange-red — vibrant coral, terracotta, salmon pink, brick red — enhanced with touches of beige, taupe, and pearlescent white. Handles and tabs in coral/terracotta. "Saint-Tropez" lettering in coral. The spirit of a Mediterranean beach at sunset, when the golden light tints the shells with pink and orange reflections. Warm, luminous, vibrant. The sea in its twilight glow.

The Deauville design draws its inspiration from two traditions: the naturalistic rigor of marine illustration plates — with their concern for precision, proportion, and classification — and the decorative fantasy of seaside tableware, coastal faience, and vacation home wallpapers. The result is a motif that is both learned and joyful, appealing to nature lovers and decoration enthusiasts alike.

Medium size — perfect for a beach outing with essentials, a stroll along the harbor, lunch on a terrace, or simply to carry a bit of the seaside everywhere without bulk. Generous enough to hold a light beach towel, a paperback book, sunscreen, and a wallet, while remaining compact and easy to carry.
